Negotiations between the union representing coaches at Pennsylvania’s state-owned universities and Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education continued today at Dixon University Center in Harrisburg.

“We continued discussions on a number of important subjects and made some progress,” said John Gump, coach executive leader of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties. “There is still quite a bit of work to do, though, as talks continue in the coming weeks.”

Monday’s meeting was the sixth bargaining session for the next coaches’ contract. An additional session is scheduled for Oct. 28.

The coaches’ contract expired June 30; by law, that collective bargaining agreement remains in effect until a new one is ratified.

APSCUF represents about 5,500 faculty and coaches at the State System universities: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania.
