Representative Brad Roae is continuing his attack on the State System of Higher Education. This week he plans to offer an amendment to SB 1308, sponsored by Senator Tomlinson, which clarifies intellectual property agreements between State System universities and employees based on APSCUF collective bargaining agreement language.

Rep. Roae’s House floor amendment would prohibit state-owned universities from doing the following:

1. Granting paid sabbaticals; 2. Providing tuition waivers; 3. Having mandatory student activity fees; 4. Paying presidents more than the governor; 5. Raising tuition for the 2012-13 school year; 6. Approving a lighter course load for local union presidents.

These changes would be detrimental to our students, our universities, and our profession. We cannot allow Rep. Roae to succeed in his blatant attack on PASSHE and public higher education.

Please contact your state representative and urge him or her to vote “No” on Amendment A11718 to SB1308.
