WELCOME TO ESU APSCUF

Dear ESU APSCUF Faculty and Coaches:

“It is one of the characteristics of a free and democratic nation that it have free and independent labor unions.” —Franklin D. Roosevelt

APSCUF, the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties, represents the thousands of faculty and coaches who work at the 14 Pennsylvania State System campuses, including East Stroudsburg University. If you are a new faculty or coach employee, full or part time, at East Stroudsburg University, we certainly encourage you to join APSCUF and become part of our organization. We are a strong voice on our campus because of our members! In solidarity we support public education in the Commonwealth.

The East Stroudsburg University APSCUF Chapter typically holds a regularly scheduled membership meeting on the first Tuesday of each month during the semesters. Generally, a second meeting focused on a topic of interest to faculty is held on the third Tuesday of each month. We use email updates to keep members informed of meetings and other news. We are a completely member-driven organization, with the primary mission of supporting the rights of our members and our students and protecting access to quality, affordable higher education for our students.

ESU APSCUF also holds annual elections for leadership positions and many committees on campus, such as the University-wide Curriculum Committee, Tenure Committee, and Promotion Committee. Our organization is a vital part of campus life. We meet regularly with the administration, informally and monthly at Meet and Discuss to bring up issues related to shared governance and topics on campus.

One of the most important tasks of APSCUF is to negotiate the collective bargaining agreements for our faculty and our coaches. The faculty CBA covers the rights and responsibilities of faculty, as well as the terms of our working conditions. These terms include evaluations, tenure, promotion, leaves of absence, benefits, grievance rights, compensation, and more. One of the strengths of the faculty CBA is that it also applies to temporary and part-time faculty, even those hired for a single semester. The coach CBA covers the working conditions for the coaches who guide our student athletic teams. Members of the coach leadership from around the Commonwealth serve on the coach negotiation team, working closely with staff in the State APSCUF office in Harrisburg. Similarly, APSCUF faculty leaders serve on the faculty negotiation team.

Our ESU APSCUF office manager has a wealth of knowledge about the local chapter and the state organization of APSCUF. They can be reached at 570-422-3278 or at .

We look forward to getting to know you and to helping you learn more about APSCUF.

In solidarity,
T. Michelle Jones-Wilson, Ph.D.
ESU-APSCUF president

* LOGGING INTO THE APSCUF WEBSITE: APSCUF upgraded its website in summer/early fall 2016, and unfortunately we were unable to move the usernames and passwords with us. Thus, if you haven’t logged into members-only areas since that transition, you’ll need to create a new account. Website accounts are unrelated to your time as an APSCUF member; members must create their own logins. Once you’ve registered, it will take up to 24 hours for the login to activate. (We verify all information for security purposes.) If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset via this link. If you do not receive your password-reset email promptly, please check your spam filter; we have received some reports of the email being diverted there.
