Negotiations between the union representing coaches at Pennsylvania’s state-owned universities and Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education continued Sept. 30 at the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties office in Harrisburg.

At Monday’s meeting, the fifth bargaining session for the next coaches’ contract, negotiators discussed previous proposals, and the APSCUF team presented a new one.

“We had a frank, productive session,” Coach Executive Leader John Gump said. “There is still much to talk about, and I look forward to our next session on Oct. 7.”

The coaches’ contract expired June 30; by law, that collective bargaining agreement remains in effect until a new one is ratified.

APSCUF represents about 5,500 faculty and coaches at the State System universities: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania.
