APSCUF endorses Wecht and Boockvar, encourages all members to register and vote
The Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF) has endorsed two judicial candidates for the upcoming November 8 municipal election. There is one vacancy on the Pennsylvania Superior Court and one for the Commonwealth Court. Judge David Wecht is the APSCUF-endorsed candidate for the Pennsylvania Superior Court, and Kathryn Boockvar is the APSCUF-endorsed candidate for the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. read more…
State System Board of Governors approves state budget request with 2.1 percent increase

U.S. News releases 2012 Best Colleges list; Seven state system universities earn rankings
In another indicator of the quality of education we provide, half of our universities achieved a ranking as a top-tier regional university in the North. Earlier this month U.S. News released its 2012 edition of Best Colleges, which includes rankings and data of more than 1,600 schools nationwide. Millersville, Shippensburg and West Chester tied for 82nd; Bloomsburg and Slippery Rock tied for 94th; East Stroudsburg ranked 107th; Kutztown ranked 122nd.
Cincinnati State faculty strike; Stand up for quality higher education
As on 7 a.m. Friday, the faculty of the Cincinnati State AAUP chapter are on strike. The major issue of contention is the administration’s proposal to increase the faculty’s workload to 37 hours a semester – 20 percent more than the teaching loads for professors at other Ohio community colleges. The faculty are concerned that adding more classroom hours will take away from essential time spent advising and mentoring students.
