With state budget talks ready to begin, Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Jake Corman, R-Centre, has his priorities set. His top goal, which he says is shared by many lawmakers in both parties, is restoring “all” of the $500 million-plus cut by Gov. Tom Corbett’s budget plan from the 14 PASSHE universities and the four state-related universities.

Asked whether he can reduce those 50-percent cuts to 25-percent, Corman said: “I want to restore it all. … I’m not prepared to say I am prepared to accept any cut. So, my goal is to restore it all.”
